Privacy.
The short version: no accounts, advertising cookies, or sale of personal data. Puzzle progress stays in your browser. Google Analytics records basic visit data, but Cluestand does not send it your puzzle or solver activity.
What stays in your browser.
Cluestand keeps a few small preferences in your browser's local storage: your light-or-dark theme choice, whether you started or marked a puzzle solved, and Country Ladder progress and streaks. Puzzle and solver values are not sent to Cluestand — they exist so a page can resume when you come back. Clear this site's browser data and they are gone.
What reaches our servers.
The site is served by Cloudflare, whose infrastructure handles requests the way any web host does — a request arrives, a page goes back. Standard, short-lived operational logs exist at that infrastructure level. The solver tools run entirely in your browser against a bundled word list: what you type into them is not transmitted, logged, or stored by us.
Production uses Google Analytics 4 for basic traffic measurement. The Google tag
loads with the page and may set first-party _ga analytics cookies.
Cluestand sends standard page views containing the page title, pathname, and a
query-free referrer. Arbitrary URL query strings are excluded; when a link uses
standard utm_* campaign labels, Cluestand forwards only those labels
so visits from a shared link can be attributed. Puzzle guesses, solver entries,
and custom gameplay events are excluded. Google Analytics also derives visit and
session counts and receives broad location, browser, and device information.
Google Signals and ad-personalization features are disabled. See Google's
data-collection summary
and privacy policy.
We do not run third-party advertising today. If the measurement or advertising behavior changes, this page changes with it.
