Frequently asked questions
How does the crossword solver work?
Type the letters you are sure of and a ? in place of each blank square. The solver returns every dictionary word of that exact length whose known letters line up with your pattern. It matches shape only — the clue itself is never parsed.
How do I enter a blank or unknown letter?
Use ? for each empty square. The length of your pattern sets the answer length, so ?a?e? only returns 5-letter words with an "a" in the second spot and an "e" in the fourth.
Can it solve cryptic or conundrum clues?
It will not interpret the clue’s wordplay, but once you know the answer length and a few crossing letters it is a fast pattern-based conundrum solver: enter what you have and read off the words that fit.
